Common questions

EV charger FAQ

How long does an EV charger installation take?

Most standard installations take 3–5 hours. Panel upgrades or long wire runs may take a full day. We give you a clear timeline on the discovery call before you commit to anything.

What is the difference between a Level 1 and Level 2 charger?

Level 1 uses a standard 120V outlet and adds 3–5 miles of range per hour, so a 350-mile EV takes 70+ hours to fill. Level 2 uses a 240V dedicated circuit and adds 25–30+ miles per hour — a full charge overnight in 6–8 hours. For anyone driving more than 30 miles a day, Level 2 is the only practical home option.

Do you handle the permit and inspection in Loudoun and Fairfax County?

Yes. NovaProHome pulls every electrical permit, schedules the county inspection, and meets the inspector on site. Homeowners never contact the county themselves.

Do I need a panel upgrade for a Level 2 charger?

Not always. We run a free panel assessment and a full load calculation before you buy anything. Many Northern Virginia homes support a 48A charger on the existing 200A service; older 100A or 125A panels usually need an upgrade, which we quote up front.

Which EV brands can you install for?

All of them. We install NACS connectors for Tesla and J1772 connectors for every other brand, including Rivian, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Volvo.
